From a Cone of Twine
Relis & Roth began with the purchase of 100 pounds of cotton twine for $25.00 by Sidney Relis. This was at the bottom of the great depression in 1932, a time of economic hopelessness. In those days, shopkeepers wrapped purchases in brown kraft paper tied with string. Sidney sold his twine door to door in New York City. When a shopkeeper asked Sidney to provide the brown kraft wrapping paper also, a full-scale packaging supply business was born – and so began the company’s long-standing practice of finding and offering the packaging products retailers request most. When prohibition ended in the U.S., Sidney expanded to offer supplies to new liquor retailers springing up around the city. Soon, with the addition of other family members, like his brother Harry, the Relis company was servicing a variety of retailers throughout the Tri-state area. Harry Relis was an intrical part of the company and spent 30+ years in the business.

More than three-quarters of a century has passed, and Relis & Roth is still family-owned and operated by Sidney Relis' son and grandchildren.
